One of the great aspects of this endearing cozy mystery series is that a reader can jump in and just be entertained even if one hasn't read the series in order. FAIR GAME is #8 in the series, and Zoe with her cousin Patsy are participating in the County Fair horse show, while Zoe is also on call with the new county ambulance. Feeling pressured about whether or not to marry Chief of Police Pete, she gains a new worry when she meets a contemptuous and arrogant candidate for County Coroner, who threatens Zoe's position as coroner's assistant and investigator.
