The Cold War gets cozy in this retro-cozy spy caper set in 1967, a year of music, miniskirts—and murder! Actress Noelle McNabb works at the Country Christmas Family Fun Park in Yuletide, Indiana, but she longs for the bright lights of Hollywood.

Real-life drama comes her way when a stranger with a fatal gunshot wound stumbles across her doorstep. When she attempts to finds the man’s murderer, Noelle encounters a super-secret spy agency, SIAMESE (Special Intelligence Apparatus for Midwest Enemy Surveillance and Espionage). SIAMESE recruits Noelle on a quest to find missing microdots under the guidance of a street-wise agent, Destiny King. As Noelle goes undercover in a cheesy nightclub and faces the enemy in late-night chases, she uncovers family secrets and finds her moral values put to the test. Along with her pet cat, Ceebee, and the kooky residents of Yuletide, Noelle discovers it takes a village to catch a killer.

Review: FLOWER POWER FATALITY by Sally Carpenter
(The Psychedelic Spy Mysteries Book 1)

An essential aspect of historical fiction is fact. The author must research to ensure that the story's background is factually accurate. FLOWER POWER FATALITY is very true to the facts, and the spirit, of the 1960's, in this case, in a quiet, out-of-the-way Midwest community. In the town of Yuletide, Christmas is the driving force, with a tourist-attracting theme park, and businesses designed to reflect Winter and Christmas, and streets and roads appropriately named. Church attendance is a main theme for the community also. Yuletide is "stuck" in the 1940's-1950's, except for a few residents like Noelle, aspiring actress who plays the Wicked Witch at the Country Christmas Family Fun Park and dreams of stardom in Hollywood, and wears miniskirts to church. Noelle is an individual with a lot of heart and integrity, and when a dying young man falls at her door, she won't stop till she uncovers the cause and the killer.

When a killer strikes just before flan time, beloved food critic Hayley Snow is forced to sniff out the killer before someone else bites the dust.

Hayley Snow, fiery food critic for Key Zest magazine, has just landed a ticket to one of the most prestigious events in Key West: a high-brow three-day conference at the Harry Truman Little White House. Even though she’ll be working the event helping her mother’s fledgling catering business, there’s plenty of spicy gossip to go around. But just before her mother’s decadent flan is put to the test, Key West’s most prized possession, Hemingway’s Nobel prize gold medal for The Old Man and the Sea, is discovered stolen from its case.

Unsavory suspicions point to Gabriel, a family friend and one of the new busboys working the event, who mysteriously goes missing moments later. Anxious to clear his name, Gabriel’s family enlists Hayley to help find him, but right as they begin their search, his body is found stabbed to death in the storeroom.

Hayley has no shortage of suspects to interrogate and very little time before the killer adds another victim to the menu in national bestselling author Lucy Burdette’s delectable eighth Key West Food Critic mystery, Death on the Menu.

Review: DEATH ON THE MENU by Lucy Burdette
(Key West Food Critic #8)

One of the blessings of Cozy Mystery is learning about a new settling, a new craft, or in the case of this series, mouthwatering recipes-- both contemporary and traditional--and history of the setting. Hayley Snow, reporter and food critic for "Key Zest" ezine, is tasked to assist her mother's catering business with a weekend (Friday through Sunday) conference event at the Little White House, former President Harry S. Truman's working retreat in the 1940's. The event hosts dignitaries from Havana, in an attempt to improve relations between that city and Key West, a mere 90 miles distant. The food is superb, but quickly human nature raises its ugly head. Tragedy ensues, as well as political grievances, and the consequence is a "locked-room mystery" type of puzzle--too many suspects, but with what motive? Only a supremely curious, and bold, amateur supersleuth can keep on digging until the truth is finally uncovered.

Since catering themed events is a good way to make extra cash, Val agrees to board the Titanic—or at least cater a re-creation of the doomed journey on a yacht. The owner of the yacht, who collects memorabilia related to the disaster, wants Val to serve the last meal the Titanic passengers ate . . . while his guests play a murder-mystery game. But it is the final feast for one passenger who disappears from the ship. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Now Val has to reel in a killer before s’more murders go down . . .

Review: S'more Murders by Maya Corrigan
(A Five-Ingredient Mystery #5)

This engrossing Chesapeake Bay area cozy mystery contains more twists than a knotted-up python! The plot surely kept me guessing. Val Deniston operates a fitness cafe and caters for extra funds, so a request to cater a replica of the Titanic' s final Captain's Table dinner seems tasteless, but she and her grandfather need house repairs, soon. So better judgment aside, Val, Grandpa, and best friend Bethany cater the dinner, on a wealthy attorney's yacht, and he insists guests participate in a Titanic-themed murder mystery role-playing game. The object seems to be an opportunity for attorney Otto to reveal denigrating information about the guests; but then Otto disappears from the yacht. Not a dull moment is there, as everybody is suspect, then Val is endangered, and other dangers threaten. Val and Grandpa diligently research backgrounds of suspects and victims, and discover a manipulative killer hiding in plain sight.
