Review: CINNAMON TOASTED by Gail Oust
[A Spice Shop Mystery]

CINNAMON TOASTED is a truly delightful, very Southern, cozy mystery, with an empowered female protagonist. I loved all the characters: even the aggravating ones are great fun. Author Gail Oust does draw on Southern stereotypes, but rounds out her characters so they are fully-dimensional, not cardboard cutouts. Even the irritating are understandable, real-life people. The setting is precious. Always, the foundational theme of the wronged wife, dumped in favour of a trophy spouse, who empowers herself and becomes an entrepreneur, maintaining her friendships and forming new ones, holding her head high while holding her own.
